COLLABORATIVE FAMILY LAW
Collaborative family law is a way to resolve family or divorce conflicts outside of the courtroom. Each party hires their own collaborative lawyer and agreements are reached through a series of settlement meetings. Parties agree to work through the process without filing any court applications.
Full Representation
Clients can receive assistance from a lawyer from the beginning of their matter to the end.
representation of children
A lawyer is available to represent children in high conflict divorce and separation matters. This service ensures the child and/or children have their position heard by all parties, as well as the court. The lawyer attends all meetings, court appearances, and settlement conferences on behalf of the child or children. A lawyer is available privately or by request through Legal Aid Alberta (with the required court order).
CHILD WELFARE DEFENCE
Clients can defend a child welfare application (apprehension, supervision order, temporary guardianship order, or permanent guardianship order) with the assistance of a lawyer.
MEDIATION
Mediation is a cost-effective way in which to resolve disputes and reach an agreement. A mediator is available to work with parties to develop a mediated agreement, which can then be drafted into an enforceable agreement or court order.
cohabitation/marriage/prenuptial or separation agreements and INDEPENDENT LEGAL ADVICE
Clients can have their legal documents that were prepared by other lawyers reviewed by a lawyer to ensure the client’s legal rights are being protected. Documents include, but are not limited to, divorce documents, cohabitation/prenuptial agreements, and separation agreements.
UNBUNDLED/LIMITED SCOPE family law SERVICES
Clients can book one-on-one appointments with a lawyer to receive legal advice regarding their particular family law matter and personal circumstances. These appointments can also be utilized for assistance in completing various court documents and paperwork, or as a client requires at various points throughout his or her legal matter. Individual plans can be developed to ensure maximum assistance throughout the process.
